Welcome to the Route One Corridor Study. The Town of Westerly is in the process of developing a plan to revitalize the Route One Corridor. The overall goal of the study is to encourage the type of development that improves functionality and reflects Westerly’s character and charm.

The study is expected to involve the following steps and be completed by fall.
AREAS OF STUDY
Public safety, ease of travel, ADA compliance, public transit and non-auto methods of travel, direction-finding and clarity of the landscape
Market opportunities and challenges for the Corridor and how the Town and its partners can spur new investment, create and maintain jobs, and build a year round economy
Assessing roadways, water, wastewater, broadband, and other components that support development
Architecture and building practices, landscaping, lighting, signage for development and for wayfinding, making connections to the beach and the downtown cultural center
Housing of different types and sizes for people scaling up or scaling down, services that complement residential uses, access to shopping, travelways, and destinations
